Florida Coronavirus Update: 38,828 Cases, 1,600 Deaths
The number of new coronavirus cases in Florida climbed to 38,828 on Thursday.
TALLAHASSEE, FL — The number of new coronavirus cases in the state climbed to 38,828 Thursday as deaths reached 1,600.
Thursday's case total represents an additional 826 confirmed cases over the previous 24-hour period. Twelve of Florida's 67 counties reported a total of 61 new deaths over the same period.
Miami-Dade County reported 22 new deaths on Thursday. Broward County reported 11 more deaths. Palm Beach County reported seven new deaths.

Pinellas County reported six more deaths. Manatee County reported four new deaths. Hillsborough County reported three more deaths. Duval County reported two new deaths as did Sarasota County.
Charlotte County reported one more death as did Desoto County, Escambia County and Pasco County.

The state had a 7.8 positive rate for the virus out of 495,075 tests that had been administered as of Thursday. The number of hospitalizations has increased in Florida to 6,765.
Miami-Dade reported 13,585 confirmed cases as of Thursday, more than any other county. Nearby Broward County, which includes Fort Lauderdale, reported 5,677 cases. Palm Beach County, which includes West Palm Beach, reported 3,587 cases. Those three counties account for some 60 percent of all Florida cases.
Hillsborough County, which includes Tampa, reported 1,364 cases as of Thursday. Orange County, which includes Orlando, reported 1,474 cases.
