Gunfire Investigated By Sarasota Police
Bullet holes were found in the garage and fence of a home early Thursday morning, officers said.

Police are investigating a shooting incident early Thursday morning that left bullet holes in the garage and fence of a Sarasota home.
Officers heard about four or five shots fired in the area of 24th Street and Osprey Avenue just after 12:30 a.m., according to a Sarasota Police Department media release.
The officers were then flagged down by a woman who told them a white vehicle had sped from the area.

Police were unable to locate the vehicle but found a bullet casing in the street in the 1700 block of 24th Street. They also noticed a home nearby had an open door and bullet holes in the front gate and garage, according to Officer Linda DeNiro, police spokesperson.
The resident told officers he didn't realize gunshots had been fired at his home, DeNiro said.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information about the vehicle or the shots fired is asked to call the Criminal Detective Division at 941- 954-7070.
