Herald-Tribune Hires New Publisher

Tallahassee Democrat Publisher Pat Dorsey will take over for Diane McFarlin at The Herald-Tribune.

will have a new publisher come Oct. 1.

Pat Dorsey, president and publisher of the Tallahassee Democrat, will take over the publisher post at The Herald-Tribune, the Democrat reported:

“It’s an opportunity for me to go to a bigger market, face new challenges and make a difference for the community,” Dorsey said. “I’m very excited about the opportunity. But I’ve got to tell you, it’s bittersweet. I love Tallahassee and the Tallahassee Democrat. There are a lot of good people here and the community has been warm and open to me and my family. It will be very tough to leave. The Tallahassee Democrat employees are some of the best I have ever worked with."

Dorsey replaces Herald-Tribune Media Group Publisher Diane McFarlin, who left the paper to . Former Herald-Tribune managing editor Allen Parsons filled in as the interim publisher.

The Democrat article says that while Dorsey was at the helm of the Gannett-owned paper, he converted the paper's website to a “full-access paid subscription” for readers to purchase a plan to view content on the website.
