Here’s Why Nancy Dezzi Was Shouted Out As A Sarasota Local Hero
We all know someone who's making a difference. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Sarasota.

SARASOTA, FL — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Rachel Wasserman who nominated Nancy Dezzi, her neighbor in Sarasota.
Local hero’s full name
Nancy Dezzi
How do you know the local hero?
Nancy and I live in the same neighborhood.
What does the local hero do?
Nancy is retired.
Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?
Despite her own chronic poor health, Nancy works tirelessly to help other seniors in our community. From running errands to driving folks to medical appointments, Nancy is always willing to take her neighbors wherever they need to go. She also uses her many community contacts to help people find housing, counseling, and many other needed services which greatly improve the lives of the people in our complex. She provides real comfort, understanding, and a sympathetic ear to anyone who needs it. Her energy and compassionate outreach make her a real role model for others to follow. Her own life is by no means problem free, but despite her own struggles, she always makes time for others in need. She recently served as a volunteer caretaker and nurse for a neighbor who was seriously ill, and even watched the family’s dog for days after the neighbor passed away — while being a great “fur-mom” to her own rescued puppy! She is an inspiration to those privileged to know her.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?
How caring and selflessly compassionate she is.
Thank you for all you do, Nancy Dezzi!
