2. A Newtown forum hosted tonight by the local NAACP chapter will focus on how teens can improve relations with police. It's called The 411 on the Five-0 and will run from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Friday, at the Harvest Tabernacle Church, 209 N. Lime Ave., according to Rise Magazine.

The forum is in response to recent shootings in north Sarasota, including the , according to Rise Magazine.

4. The boat ramp at Nathan Benderson Park will be closed through July 19 to dredge the lake. More than 500,000 cubic yards of materials have been placed to start the creation of “Regatta Island,” the new home of Nathan Benderson Park operations. Dredging operations will begin on the north end of the lake and continue to the south end along the west shoreline. The dredging is expected to be completed in November, and will provide an additional  minimum of 250,000 cubic yards of material for the island. The boat ramp is scheduled to reopen on July 20.
