Lightning Strike Damages Lido Pool
Sarasota's Lido pool is off limits while crews work to repair lightning-related damage.
SARASOTA, FL — Swimmers who normally use Sarasota’s Lido Beach Pool will have to find a new location to cool off for a little while. The city announced Thursday that a lightning strike damaged the electrical equipment.
The damage occurred at the electrical panel that is responsible for controlling pumps and chemical levels, an email from the city said.
“Maintenance crews are assessing the extent of the damage and determining a timeline to complete the necessary repairs,” the city noted. Until the assessment is completed, a date when residents can expect the 400 Benjamin Franklin Drive pool to reopen is not known.
