Man, 19, Charged With Homicide After Body Found in Field

The arrest follows the March 14 discovery of Jovonne Corn's body in an open field on 19th Street in Sarasota, according to police.

A 19-year-old homeless man has been arrested and charged with with murdering a man whose body was found in an open field in Sarasota last month, authorities said Wednesday night.

Kevin L. Peterson was arrested Wednesday afternoon by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force, a Sarasota Police spokesperson said.

He is charged with homicide in the death of Jovonne Corn, whose body was found the morning of March 14 in an open field behind an apartment complex at 1829 19th St.

Information and tips helped detectives identify Peterson as the suspect, according to Officer Linda DeNiro, Sarasota Police spokesperson.

Peterson was booked into Sarasota County Jail, where he was being held without bond.
