Man Hospitalized After Shooting Near Sarasota Bar

The 23-year-old victim was not seriously injured in the early morning shooting reported near Kay's Lounge on Washington Boulevard.

A man was hospitalized following a reported shooting near a Sarasota bar early Friday morning, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

The 23-year-old victim arrived at Manatee Memorial Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds around 3:10 a.m., the sheriff's office reports.

The man was taken to the hospital by a friend and was not seriously injured, a sheriff's office spokesperson said in a media release.

The shooting reportedly occurred in the area of Kay's Lounge, 4034 N. Washington Blvd., in Sarasota.

The sheriff's office had only a vague description of an unknown male shooter, about 5-foot-11 and 200 pounds.
