Man Allegedly Kills Mother, Father, Sister in Sarasota

Sarasota Sheriff's office says Thomas Moak Jr. killed three relatives who lived at the same Sarasota address and was about to kill himself.

A 58-year-old man is in Sarasota County Jail without bond today, facing charges in the deaths of his mother, father and sister.

Sarasota County Sheriff's office arrested Thomas Moak Jr. of 4142 Tonga Drive in Sarasota on three counts of first-degree premeditated homicide, according to his booking report.

The incident started Friday night shortly before 11:20 p.m. when a relative reported that Moak had called them and said he killed his mother, father and sister and was about to kill himself, the sheriff's office said.

When deputies arrived, they talked Moak into coming outside. He was immediately taken into custody without incident, the sheriff's office said. Deputies searched the home and discovered the three victims.

Moak had confessed to deputies to the killings while being taken into custody, according to the sheriff's office probable cause affidavit. His statement to deputies during his interview was redacted from the report.

The victims are 82-year-old Isabelle Moak, 80-year-old Thomas Moak, Sr., and 62 -year-old Renee O'Connor. All three victims lived at that home on Tonga Drive.
