Man Leads Deputies on High Speed Chase Through Sarasota
Jerry Wayne Green was going as fast as 124 mph on U.S. 301 through Sarasota and Manatee counties before he was eventually captured inside a Bradenton home, according to authorities.

Deputies caught a wanted man who they say was speeding as fast as 124 mph on U.S. 301 through Sarasota and Manatee counties Tuesday night.
A Manatee County Sheriff's deputy's radar picked up a red Volkswagon heading northbound on 301 at Tallevast Road at a high rate of speed shortly after midnight, authorities said. They later learned authorities in Sarasota had also been chasing the same vehicle.
Deputies then spotted the car running a solid red light at 301 and State Road 70 in Bradenton, according to a media release. When they tried to stop the driver, he reportedly fled.

A sheriff's helicopter joined in on the chase and spotted the car stopping at 32nd Avenue East, where the driver ran from the car into a nearby residence.
Deputies surrounded the home, and the homeowner allowed a search, officials said. Jerry Wayne Green Jr., 26, was found in a child's bedroom.

Green had active warrants out of Manatee and Sarasota counties, the sheriff's office said.
He was arrested and booked at Manatee County Jail on a charge of resisting/obstructing an officer without violence.
