Man Robbed At Hibiscus Suites Inn

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of the robbery suspect to call the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office

Sarasota County Sheriff’s detectives are asking anyone with the location of a suspect who had robbed a man at gunpoint at the Friday night.

Deputies arrives at the hotel, 1735 Stickney Point Road, Sarasota, at 11:17 p.m. Friday when a victim told them that a man pointed a gun at him saying “give me everything you got,” according to the sheriff’s office.

The victim described the suspect as a black male with a bandana over his face, a black sweat shirt, white T-shirt and had fled the area in a soft top red Ford Mustang convertible with an undisclosed amount of money, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies had stopped the car near the 1800 block of Grove Street with the suspect inside with two females, but the man fled the area and the sheriff’s office could not find the suspect after a search, according to the sheriff’s office.

An investigation led to the arrest of Chasity Edwards, 19, and Lea Canty, 18, charging them with felony principal in the first degree, meaning that they could be sentenced to the same amount of time of the robber, according to the sheriff’s office.

Edwards and Canty are being held at the Sarasota County Jail on $5,000 bond.
