SARASOTA, FL — A man was arrested in Thursday night’s armed robbery of a Sarasota Walgreens, authorities said.

James Cook, 40, entered the pharmacy at Walgreens at 1225 S. Tamiami Trail with a gun just before 11 p.m. and demanded money, Sarasota police wrote in a Facebook post.

Cook held employees and a customer at gunpoint before stealing cash and prescription pills from the pharmacy, police said.

Sarasota detectives and several partner agencies, including the North Port Police Department and the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, found Cook and took him into custody without incident on Friday around 1 p.m.
