MLB Spring Training Returns To Sarasota, Bradenton After Lockout
The Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates have announced their revised 2022 Florida spring training schedules.

SARASOTA-BRADENTON, FL — With Major League Baseball’s 99-day lockout over, spring training will return to Florida, including Sarasota and Manatee counties, starting on Thursday, according to the Florida Grapefruit League’s website.
MLB and the Major League Baseball Players Association ratified a five-year labor agreement on Thursday, ending the three-month lockout that canceled dozens of spring training games in the state and delayed the official start to the 2022 MLB season.
Florida’s first spring training game of the season will pit the Minnesota Twins against the Boston Red Sox at JetBlue Park on Thursday. After that, a full schedule of games will be played in Florida over 19 days from Friday through April 6, the Grapefruit League said.

Spring training is a longtime tradition in the state, going back more than 100 years, according to the Florida Sports Foundation. In 2019 alone, more than 1.5 million baseball fans attended spring training facilities, and $687.1 million is pumped into the state's economy each year because of these preseason games.
The Sarasota and Bradenton region boasts three MLB spring training centers — the Atlanta Braves at CoolToday Park near Venice and North Port, the Baltimore Orioles at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, and the Pittsburgh Pirates at LECOM Park in Bradenton.
