FL Motorcyclist Dies After Crashing Into Truck While Driving Around Traffic: FL Troopers
A Venice motorcyclist trying to drive around traffic died after hitting the back of a truck, Florida Highway Patrol said.
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A motorcyclist died after crashing into the back of a truck hauling a trailer while trying to go around traffic on Saturday afternoon in Sarasota County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The 60-year-old Venice man was heading south in the left lane of Englewood Road, north of Cypress Road, when he approached a curve in the road around 1:43 p.m.
When he tried to go around traffic in the left lane by entering the left turn lane, the motorcyclist hit the truck, which was legally stopped, FHP said.

After the collision, he was thrown from the motorcycle as it overturned onto its right side.
The motorcyclist was brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead hours later, just before 6 p.m., FHP said.

The truck's driver, a 53-year-old Cape Coral man, was uninjured in the crash.
