Newtown Resident Fatally Shoots Home Intruder

Early reports indicate that the north Sarasota shooting was justified under the Florida Stand Your Ground Law.

Sarasota Police are continuing to investigate an early morning fatal shooting in Newtown that appears to be justified under the Florida Stand Your Ground law.

Christian R. Robinson, 27, of 2312 N. Osprey Ave., entered a home at the 1400 block of 21st Street at 2 a.m. Tuesday, and was uninvited, according to

Robinson waved a gun at three residents of the home, telling them to get out of the house, according to police.

One of the residents, Frank Lee Green, 22, told police that he pulled a handgun from his pocket and shot Robinson, according to police. Green has a concealed weapons permit, according to police. 

Sarasota Police Department’s Criminalistics unit and detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the home.
