No Injuries Reported in School Bus Crash

A Sarasota driver is charged with careless driving after rear ending a school bus Monday morning on Bee Ridge Road.

A 49-year-old Sarasota woman faces a careless driving charge after rear ending a school bus Monday morning on Bee Ridge Road.

At about 9 a.m., a 2009 Thomas Freightliner bus driven by Cecelia Basilotto, 40, of Englewood, slowed her bus down while approaching Wake Avenue when Kathryn Parsons of Sarasota struck the rear of the bus with a 2007 Hyundai Elantra, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Neither driver was injured, and the 12 children on the school bus were not injured either, Highway Patrol said.

The bus suffered $2,000 in damage while the Elantra's was estimated at $8,000.
