No One Injured, 4 Schools Put on Lockdown in Sarasota Shooting Incident

Sarasota Police are investigating a Wednesday morning shooting incident and four nearby schools were put on lockdown as a precaution, according to media reports.
The shooting occurred in the area of 24th Street and Osprey Avenue around 10:22 a.m., according to a media release. No one was injured.
Emma E. Booker Elementary, Booker middle and high schools and Gocio Elementary were put on lockdown while police searched for a suspect, the Sarasota Herald-Tribune reports.

“All students are safe,” district spokesman Scott Ferguson said in a call that went out just before noon to parents whose children attend the schools, according to the Herald-Tribune.
Detectives are interviewing the victims and following up on evidence and leads, police said.
