One Shooting Suspect Arrested, Brother Sought as Second Shooter

The Sheriff's Office said the shooting took place Friday near 25th Street and Euclid Avenue.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested 18-year-old Ryan Ward after he allegedly shot a 44-year-old man mulltiple times after the man tried to intervene in an alteration. 

Sarasota deputies are still searching for a second shooting suspect — Ryan Ward's brother, 21-year-old Trae Ward. 

The sheriff’s office said the shooting took place Feb. 22 near 25th Street and Euclid Avenue.

Detectives said the victim encountered several people, at least two of whom were brandishing guns and fired multiple shots at him as he ran from the scene.

No injuries were reported. The victim was not hurt, according to authorities.

Ryan Ward was arrested Saturday and charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm, which is his fourth arrest since 2010 on aggravated battery and weapons charges.

Detectives have a warrant for Trae Ward, who also has four prior felony arrests for similar charges, the sheriff's office said.
