Orange Ave and Mound St Get New Turn Lane

Turning onto Mound Street from northbound Orange Avenue should be easier starting today thanks to some new turn lanes.

The two northbound lanes on Orange Avenue will be used as dual left turn lanes (left turn only; and left turn/thru), according to the City of Sarasota.

You can also make right turns from the outside lane — just remember to stay in that outside lane while making that turn. The traffic signals will be modified to allow these turns safely and new signs are up to tell drivers about the change. 

The city was able to get permission from the Florida Department of Transportation to install the lanes because the congestian created from the nearby Osprey Ave./Luke Wood Park utility project that has shifted traffic over to the Orange Avenue intersection.

The turn lane changes are temporary during the Osprey Ave./Luke Wood Park utility project.
