Owner Of Sarasota ‘Drug Flop House’ Arrested

Sarasota County Sheriff's deputies say they've visited the same home about 40 times since August 2016.

SARASOTA, FL — A 37-year-old woman is in hot water after Sarasota County deputies say they’ve visited her home about 40 times since last August for a number of reasons, including seven separate heroin or fentanyl overdoses. Three of those overdoses occurred over the span of three consecutive days in March.

Danielle Baggett’s arrest on felony maintaining a nuisance dwelling charges was announced Monday. Deputies brought her into custody on the charge last week. Baggett owns a home in the 4500 block of Lockwood Ridge Road that deputies say they are all too familiar with.

According to a report, aside from the overdoses, deputies have gone to Baggett’s home to arrest people on violation of probation charges, in response to disputes and one time when a “prolific offender stated he ‘shot up’ methamphetamine.”

When asking people who live at the home why so many overdoses occurred at the home, deputies reported they were told the owner “made the residence a ‘drug flop house for everyone to get high.’” The arrest report also alleges deputies were told Baggett “allowed people to come into the house in exchange for drugs.”

Baggett was the subject of one of the overdose calls, the report noted. She reportedly was the patient in one of the three overdoses at the address in March 2017, the report said.

Baggett was booked into the Sarasota County Jail last week and was later released in lieu of $1.500 bond. The investigation into Baggett and activities at her home remains active with more charges pending, the sheriff’s office said.
