Passenger Dies When Truck Driver Loses Control, Crashes On FL Highway

VENICE, FL — The passenger in a box truck was killed when it crashed on Interstate 75 on Monday afternoon, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The truck was heading north in the highway’s outside lane around 5 p.m. when the driver, a 26-year-old Opalocka man, lost control.

The truck traveled off the road and into the grass shoulder, where it hit a traffic sign and overturned, FHP said.

The passenger, a 36-year-old Hollywood man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
