Pickup Slams Into Sarasota’s Lobster Pot

A medical emergency is being blamed for a Tuesday morning crash that ended with a Dodge Ram partially inside the Lobster Pot.

SARASOTA, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol says a 62-year-old man from Pennsylvania has been hospitalized following a Tuesday morning crash that left his Dodge Ram partially inside Sarasota's Lobster Pot restaurant.

According to troopers, Ernest Fouraker of Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, was driving his Ram north on Ocean Boulevard around 9:40 a.m. July 4. Fouraker “apparently suffered a medical episode,” went off the road and into the 5157 Ocean Blvd. restaurant, a patrol report said.

When Fouraker’s truck hit the establishment, debris flew into the air, hitting a Lexus that was properly parked nearby.

Troopers say Fouraker was taken to a local hospital for treatment after the crash. Since the accident was caused by a medical emergency, no charges were filed.

The restaurant was closed with no one inside at the time of the crash, authorities say.
