Police Arrest Man for Murder of Jeffrey Hill
Sarasota Police have charged Roy Couran for the homicide of Sarasota native Jeffrey Hill, who was killed Jan. 25.
Less than 24 hours after , Sarasota Police announced Tuesday they've made an arrest in the case.
Sarasota Police charged Roy Couran, 34, with homicide, attempted robbery with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon following warrants by Det. Anthony DeFranciso for Couran's arrest, police said.
Hill was shot Jan. 25 during a robbery and died four hours later at Blake Medical Center, police said. Hill’s death was the first murder of 2012 in the City of Sarasota.

Hill's last known address was 26th Ave. West in Bradenton, but his family runs deep in Sarasota.
Hill was a star quarterback and defensive back for Sarasota High School, and played the sport while attending Virgnia Union University in Richmond, Virginia.

He returned to Sarasota and coached in the Ringling Redskins league.
Hill's grandfather, Calvin Hill, is a retired Public Works employee, serving the city for 22 years and his father, Daryel Hill, works in the same department, while two brothers, Timothy and Romaine, work for the city's Utilities Department.
The city honored the family with a memorial resolution for Hill at Monday's meeting.
