Riverview High Receives $100,000 Anonymous Donation

1. Thanks to a generous anonymous donor, has $100,000 coming to it for two specific causes.
The Sarasota County Board of Education approved accepting the donation at its Tuesday meeting.
The donor stated that $50,000 will go to the Riverview High School Foundation to pay for the Stars to Starfish project, building a permanent dock on Phillip Creek and purchasing a pontoon boat for the new

The other $50,000 will go to the Riverview Kilties Boosters to buy $30,000 worth of new music instruments and to build a new permanent tower on the practice field for instructors and drum majors to use to help with field show practice. The completion goal for the tower is at the beginning of the upcoming school year.

The testing will begin at 9 a.m. at the Supervisor of Elections Office in the Sarasota County Terrace Building, 2001 Adams Lane, Sarasota, Florida.
Florida law requires the supervisor of elections to conduct a public test of the county’s automatic tabulation equipment and reporting software prior to each election to ensure it is operating and recording accurately. The public logic and accuracy testing is performed on a random sampling of all the tabulating equipment that will be fielded on election day.
3. The Sarasota Architectural Foundation will offer a tour of Lido Shores Homes, including the famed "Picture Frame House" on New Pass from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4. The event includes a talk by the home's architect Mark Sultana along with a wine and buffet reception. Admission is $15 for SAF members and $20 for non-members. Tour meets at 1325 Westway Drive, Sarasota. For tickets, pay online using PayPal at saf-srq.org/events. Also payable by cash or check at the door, RSVP requested at info@saf-srq.org.
4. Comedian, impressionist and actor Kevin Pollack is coming to for one night only on Friday. Two shows are offered at 7 p.m. and 9: 15 p.m. Tickets cost $17. Admission also requires a two purchase minimum in the showroom. You may recognize Pollack from A Few Good Men, Grumpier Old Men, Usual Suspects and Casino.
