Others said the gator encounter shouldn't really come as a surprise since their habitat is getting smaller and smaller due to development.

"I don’t know what people expect when they keep building things that completely take over their natural habitat," someone commented.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, people with concerns about an alligator should call FWC's toll-free Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-392-4286. When someone concerned about an alligator calls the Nuisance Alligator Hotline, FWC will dispatch a contracted nuisance alligator trapper to resolve the situation.
