Sarasota County Schools Earns ‘A’ Grade For 22nd Straight Year: District

For the second consecutive year, 95 percent of Sarasota County Schools earned a grade of "A" or "B" grade from the FL Dept. of Education.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — Sarasota County Schools once again earned an “A” grade from the Florida Department of Education for the 2024-25 school year.

The state grading system evaluates student achievement, learning gains and schoolwide progress.

It’s the 22nd consecutive school year Sarasota County has earned an “A,” which is “a reflection of consistent academic performance” and a “long-standing focus on student growth, instructional quality, and system-wide accountability,” according to a news release from the district.

Sarasota County also improved nine points on the state's overall accountability system compared to last year.

In addition, 95 percent of district-managed schools earned "A" or "B" grades for the second year in a row, “reinforcing the impact of focused instructional strategies, responsive leadership and strong community support,” Sarasota County Schools said.

Statewide, 71 percent of all grade schools earned either an “A” or “B” grade during the 2024-25 school year, compared to 64 percent during the previous school year, FDOE said.

“This year’s school grades demonstrate that Florida’s focus on the future of education has paid off,” Manny Diaz, Jr., commissioner of education, said. “Under Governor (Ron) DeSantis’ leadership, Florida has implemented innovative strategies like progress monitoring and provided students with the choices they need to succeed. The 2025 school grades are a reflection of the nation-leading education reforms that Florida has implemented.”
