Sarasota County Schools: Upcoming Dates You Need to Know About

SARASOTA, FL — The clocks have changed, the election’s over and the holidays are fast approaching. With Sarasota County school kids preparing for more than a few upcoming days off, Patch wanted to help parents keep up.

Here’s a look at some important upcoming dates Sarasota County parents need to know about as 2016 races to a close and 2017 arrives:

• Veterans Day – Nov. 11 is not a day off for Sarasota County school kids.
• Thanksgiving break – District schools are out of session Nov. 23-25. Kids go back to school on Nov. 28.
• Winter break – Students are off for winter break from Dec. 19 through Jan. 2, 2017. Kids’ first day back to class is Jan. 3.
• 2nd grading period ends – Jan. 13, 2017
• Martin Luther King Jr. Day – Jan. 16 is a day off for school kids.
• Professional Day – Students are off Jan. 17, but teachers have to report.
