Sarasota High School Fires Football Coach: SHS Athletics

Coach Brody Wiseman is no longer the head football coach at Sarasota High School, according to the Sailors' Athletics Department.

SARASOTA, FL — Sarasota High School’s head football coach, Brody Wiseman, has been fired from the position.

“Sarasota High School is grateful for the time and effort head Coach Brody Wiseman dedicated to the Sarasota Sailors football program,” according to a statement provided by the Sailors’ Athletics Department. “We've decided to make a change in leadership and take our football program in a different direction. We will begin conducting our search for our next head football coach immediately. We wish Coach Wiseman the best in all future coaching endeavors.”

Wiseman tweeted a statement about his departure from the team, writing that “it’s been a ride…but it’s time for us to go our separate ways.”

In his statement, he said, “I am no longer the head coach at Sarasota. I am proud of the job I did at SHS. It has been my privilege to all that I have coached and coached with, I love you all deeply, and I gave you the best I had everyday these last five years…I stuck it out and poured my heart out for you guys, and I wouldn’t trade the relationships or the experiences we shared for anything. They will stay with me for the rest of my life.”

Starting out as the football program’s assistance coach, Wiseman went on to serve as the team’s offensive coordinator and, eventually, head coach in 2020.

The team finished last season 5-5, which qualified them for the playoffs, according to MaxPreps.com. It was the first time since 2013 that the team qualified to advance after regular season play.
