Sarasota To Host Annual Veterans Day Parade And Ceremony
The parade will travel down Main Street in the downtown area.

SARASOTA, FL – Like many cities around the country, Sarasota will honor its area veterans with a parade and ceremony for Veterans Day.
The annual Sarasota Veterans Day Parade is set for Friday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m., and will be followed by a ceremony at Selby Five Points Park at approximately 11 a.m. The parade will begin at the corner of Main Street and Osprey Avenue.
The theme for the 2016 Veterans Day ceremony is “We Thank You For Your Service.” The keynote speaker will be retired Lt. Ryan Simonson, a West Point graduate, who served in the U.S. Army for 13 years. He served multiple tours with Many military decorations, including the Bronze Star.

Simonson currently teaches military studies at the Sarasota Military Academy.
Units appearing in the parade will include veterans service organizations, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, color guards, marching bands, local high school Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps units, civic organizations and historical military equipment.
