SARASOTA, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a Wednesday night single-vehicle crash that left a 21-year-old Sarasota man critically injured.

When Diaz reentered the lane he “lost control and traveled across both eastbound lanes of Proctor Road,” a highway patrol report said. The Honda left the road and hit the concrete wall outside River View High School before stopping in the school’s driveway.

Diaz was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with critical injuries, the patrol said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Alcohol, authorities noted in the report, is not believed to be a factor.
