Sarasota Man Allegedly Sold Ecstasy To Undercover Detectives
A 19-year-old Sarasota man has been arrested for allegedly selling the street drug known as Ecstasy to undercover police detectives.

SARASOTA, FL — A 19-year-old Sarasota man has been arrested for allegedly selling the street drug known as Ecstasy or Molly to undercover police detectives. Dalton Harney was charged with trafficking the synthetic drug, which alters mood and perception.
In announcing the arrest on Thursday, Genevieve Judge of the Sarasota Police Department said that Harney, of Oarsman Court, allegedly made three drug sales to undercover detectives between September and November. The formal name of the drug is MDMA.

The first sale, on Sept. 20, involved 14.2 grams in exchange for $1,000. On Oct. 17, Harney allegedly sold 9.3 grams to an undercover detective for $650. On Nov. 20, Harney allegedly sold another 27.5 grams of the substance to an undercover detective for $1,900.

"In total, 50.5 grams of MDMA were delivered and sold by Harney to undercover detectives," according to Sarasota police. Police said the street value of the combined sales was $3,800.

Harney was charged with two counts of trafficking in MDMA and sale of a controlled substance. He was taken to the Sarasota County Jail and released on a $67,500 bond.
