Sarasota Man Critical After U.S. 301 Crash

A 38-year-old Sarasota man is in critical condition following a Sunday night crash on U.S. 301.

SARASOTA, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a single-vehicle crash that left a 38-year-old Sarasota man in critical condition Sunday night.

According to the patrol, the man was driving a Toyota Tacoma south on U.S. 301 in the inside lane north of Northgate Boulevard around 7 p.m. Dec. 18. For unknown reasons, the man lost control of the Tacoma, rotated counterclockwise and ran off the road. After running into the median, the truck’s rear hit a tree and overturned.

Troopers say the driver was ejected out of a window.

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital in critical condition. Troopers say an unknown male passenger took off from the scene on foot. He is believed to have minor injuries.
