Sarasota Man Seriously Injured in Tuttle Avenue Crash

A Sarasota man was hospitalized with serious injuries following a Monday morning crash on Tuttle Avenue that left his car split in two.

SARASOTA, FL — A 27-year-old Sarasota man was hospitalized with serious injuries following a single-vehicle crash on Tuttle Avenue Monday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Johan Fernando was heading south on Tuttle Avenue in the right lane around 2:50 a.m. Nov. 14. As Fernando's Honda Accord approached the roundabout intersection with Siesta Drive, troopers say he was traveling “at an extremely high rate of speed.”

Fernando attempted to negotiate the right curve at the entrance to the roundabout, but failed to do so, a highway patrol report said. As a result, his Honda rotated clockwise, left the road and struck a large tree. Fernando’s vehicle was split in two, the report said.
