SARASOTA, FL — If you missed the Sarasota Police Department's National Night Out celebration this week, you missed monster trucks, bomb squad robots and the rhythmic tat, tat, tat of the Sarasota Military Academy Drumline.

The good news is that won't have to wait until next year to get in on the fun. Patch bring you highlights of this year's event with a photo gallery and even a drumline video courtesy of the Sarasota Police Department.

The free event was open to both residents and visitors alike.

It also featured K-9 demonstrations, emergency vehicles, a junior SWAT challenge, face painting, child safety kits, forensics as well as free food and beverages.

The agency's Genevieve Judge said the annual event is intended to strengthen the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement officers while promoting a stronger sense of community.
