Sarasota Police Donate Coolers to Kids' Basketball League
The young players, ages 6-12, will be able to keep hydrated during play at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex.
Two Sarasota Police Department Patrol Officers are making a difference at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, located at 1845 34th St, Sarasota.
While on foot patrol, Officer Jaymi Delcos and Officer Andre Jenkins stopped in to the Community Center, to interact with the kids. While there they watched a League basketball game.
Together the kids and officers shot some hoops. The officers noticed that the Youth Basketball Team, ages 6-12, did not have a cooler for sports drinks or water, just a long line at the water fountain.

The two officers came up with the idea to donate coolers that hold water and sports drinks for the kids to hydrate while playing hard. The officers, through the Sarasota Police Department, donated three blue coolers each with the Sarasota Police Department Logo, cups and a large container of concentrated sports drink to fill the cooler.
On March 8, the officers, along with recently retired Sarasota Police Captain Wade McVay, who donated one of the coolers himself, presented the team with the coolers.
