If you love the Sarasota Police Department —​ and even if you have some constructive criticism —​ now is your chance to share your thoughts.

SARASOTA, FL — If you love the Sarasota Police Department — and even if you have some constructive criticism — now is your chance to share your thoughts.

The agency is scheduled to undergo an assessment by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation on March 10.

Assessors will examine all aspects of the Sarasota Police Department's policies and procedures, management, operations and support services.

They also want to hear from the public.

"The Sarasota Police Department must comply with approximately 240 standards in order to receive accredited status," the agency's Genevieve Judge said. "Many of the standards are critical to life, health and safety issues."
