Sarasota Sears Closing: Report

SARASOTA, FL — As Sears Holdings’ continues efforts to cut costs and streamline its brick-and-mortar presence, the company has reportedly slated 20 more stores for closing. One of those locations is in Sarasota.

The new list of 20 stores set for closing adds to the 245 locations announced earlier in the year, according to Business Insider. Sarasota’s 8201 S. Tamiami Trail store is the only nearby location on the list of 20 released by the publication on Friday.

How soon the stores on the list of 20 will close remains unclear.

Sears isn’t the only major retailer across the country scaling back on storefronts. Macy’s, JCPenney and Rue 21 have all announced closings this year.
