Sarasota Tops Livability's Best Affordable Honeymoon Destinations

Sarasota ranked number 1 on Livability's​​ 2019 10 Best Affordable Honeymoon Spots in the US​.

SARASOTA, FL — Citing the "spectacular" sunsets, Sarasota tops the list of Livability's 2019 10 Best Affordable Honeymoon Spots in the US.

"Beach towns are known for their sunsets. But Sarasota’s sunset view is so spectacular, it’s worth syncing your schedule up with as the dusk sky swirls like cotton candy, casting an amethyst glow," Livability penned. See also Florida Has 2 Of 5 Best Places To Get Married: Study

"On Siesta Key, there’s even a Sunday night drum circle to celebrate the sunset. By day, honeymooners can enjoy sugary white sand beaches," the website said. "By night, there’s an arts and culture scene to sample, with ballets, a Circus Arts Conservatory featuring world-class performers, Broadway shows, jazz concerts and theatrical performances."

Livability suggested couples choose Sarasota over the Mediterranean. "You can even get your paella and sangria fix at Columbia Restaurant," editors noted.

With an average hotel price of $162 in Sarasota, Livability suggested couples stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota where couples massages "come with a soak in a tub with rose petals."

Livability recommended that honeymooners choose "punchy, bold floral prints" and resort clothes for their Sarasota visit.

Other local businesses that got a mention include restaurant Indigenous for a romantic date night and The Ringling for its European art and the Circus Museum, "where you can safely walk a wire or try squeezing into a clown car."
