Sarasota Veterans Day Parade 2016: Road Closings, Details

Breaking: Sarasota Police are planning to close off several roads for Friday's Veterans Day Parade.

SARASOTA, FL — Motorists with plans to travel in Sarasota on Friday might want to avoid a few areas. The City of Sarasota is preparing to shut down several streets as it makes way for the annual Veterans Day Parade.

According to Sarasota Police, there will be multiple road closures and a few vehicle tow-away zones in place for the Nov. 11 parade.

The following streets will close to traffic:

  • Main Street from U.S. 301 to Mira Mar Court, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Links Avenue from Fruitville Road to Ringling Boulevard, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Osprey Avenue from Fruitville Road to Ringling Boulevard, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Central Avenue from Main Street to 1st Street, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • First Street from Pineapple Avenue to Central Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Pineapple Avenue from State Street to First Street, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“Vehicles not removed by the posted time will be towed at the owner’s expense,” the police department warned.

Anyone who happens to have a vehicle towed should contact Upman’s Towing at 941-365-7084.

The parade is sponsored by the Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee. It is expected to step off at Main Street and Osprey Avenue at 10 a.m. The parade will then head down Main Street to Five Points Park. An 11 a.m. ceremony is planned at the park.
