Sarasota Woman Charged With Series of Burglaries On Siesta Key: Sheriff

A 20-year-old woman was charged with six counts of burglary by Sarasota sheriff's detectives.

SARASOTA - A 20-year-old Sarasota woman has been charged with a series of burglaries on Siesta Key, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office. Sarah Young was initially arrested on Sept. 19 and charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of criminal use of personal identification information. As sheriff’s detectives continued their investigation into other Siesta Key burglaries, they connected Young with four additional crimes and she now faces four additional counts of burglary, the sheriff's office said.

Young, who was arrested by detectives on Friday, is being held on $6,000 bond.

The investigation began July 17 when man reported his credit card was stolen from his unlocked vehicle in the 4800 block of Higel Avenue. An online purchase was made with the card only hours after the burglary occurred and delivered to 2375 Tangerine Drive in Sarasota. Detectives gathered surveillance video from a nearby residence which captured a female suspect going through vehicles at the victim’s home.

On Aug. 8, another man reported his credit card stolen from his vehicle in the 5200 block of Siesta Cove Drive. The stolen credit card was used to make a purchase that was also delivered to the Tangerine Drive address.
