Sarasota Wrong-Way Crash Leaves 2 People Injured
A wrong-way crash on Honore Avenue sent two people to the hospital Tuesday night. One suffered serious injuries.

SARASOTA, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a Tuesday night wrong-way crash on Honore Avenue that sent two people to the hospital.
According to the patrol, Victor Tyne, 77, of Mohegan Lake, New York, was driving a Chevrolet Malibu northbound in the inside southbound lane of Honore Avenue around 9 p.m. July 11. At that time, Austin Yacullo, 20, of Sarasota was driving an Acura south on Honore in the southbound inside lane.

Troopers say as the two vehicles moved south of Jem Lane, they crashed “in an offset head-on type collision."
Tyne was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries after the wreck. Troopers say Yacullo suffered minor injuries and was also hospitalized.

The crash remains under investigation with charges pending its outcome. It is currently unclear if alcohol played a role in the crash, the patrol’s report noted.
