School Board Chair Steps Down For Role As FL School District's Police Chief
Tim Enos is stepping down from the role of Sarasota County School Board chair to serve as Sarasota County Schools Police Dept. chief again.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — Sarasota County School Board Chair Tim Enos is resigning from the role for a job he previously held — chief of the Sarasota County Schools Police Department.
Enos, who represents District 5, will step down effective Aug. 24, according to a news release from Sarasota County Schools.
He was elected to the school board in 2022 and chosen by the board to serve as chair in November 2024.

Prior to this, he spent more than 30 years in law enforcement, 22 of them spent working directly with schools, including his tenure as police chief for Sarasota County Schools.
“While it has been an honor to serve as a school board member and board chair, my deepest passion has always been ensuring the safety of our students and staff,” Enos said. “This new role allows me to focus all my efforts on strengthening school safety and continuing the work I have dedicated much of my career to.”

His career includes service as executive director of the Florida Association of School Resource Officers, testimony before the Florida Legislature on school safety following the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy, and leadership in implementing significant safety enhancements throughout Sarasota County Schools.
“I can think of no better person to lead the Sarasota County Schools Police Department,” Superintendent Terry Connor said. “Mr. Enos’s unmatched expertise in school safety, his deep knowledge of this department, and his commitment to protecting our students and staff make him the ideal choice for this critical position.”
