Sewer Line Collapse Caused Hole In Sarasota Road: FDOT

SARASOTA, FL —A hole that appeared in the road in a section of N. Tamiami Trail was caused by a sewer line collapse, the Florida Department of Transportation’s Southwest Florida office wrote in a Facebook post.

The hole closed all southbound lanes of the road at 22nd Street Monday afternoon. One of the two lanes later reopened.

There is not estimated time for when the sewer pipe and the roadway will be restored, FDOT said.

Drivers should anticipate possible delays and slow-moving traffic, according to the agency.

The suggested detour takes drivers off U.S. 41 at 23rd Street onto Ixora Avenue and back onto U.S. 41 at 22nd Street.
