Shootout Between Motorists Under Investigation In Sarasota
Sarasota Police are investigating a Monday afternoon shooting that occurred on North Washington Boulevard.

SARASOTA, FL — The Sarasota Police Department is investigating a Monday afternoon shootout between people in two cars that were traveling along North Washington Boulevard.
According to the agency, the incident began to unfold around 3:30 p.m. June 19. Police say a 2015 or newer model white Toyota Camry with graphite rims and dark windows was traveling eastbound on 32nd Street at that time. Another car, a newer model gold Chevrolet Malibu, was also traveling in the same direction.

Police say each vehicle had at least two men inside. People inside the vehicles began shooting at each other before the cars crossed North Washington and ended up in a business parking lot where additional shots were fired.
“No one was struck, however, one business was hit by bullets,” a Monday afternoon email from the police department said.

After shots were fired in the business’ parking lot, police say both cars took off from the area. Police believe the people in both cars were involved in an incident in Manatee County, as well. Authorities have not elaborated on the Manatee County incident.
Further information is not yet available. It is unclear if anyone in either car was injured in the crossfire.
