Softball Complex to Get New Lighting

Four fields at the popular 17th Street Softball Complex will get the improvements.

Things soon will look brighter at the 17th Street Softball Complex.

That's because Sarasota County plans to update lighting at the four fields, as well as the walkway and parking lot, according to YourObserver.com.

A bid solicitation for the upgrade, which includes LED lighting, was posted Friday, April 12.

The popular 96-acre park is on 17th Street, between Honore Avenue and Beneva Road. It has:

  • Four softball fields
  • Two soccer fields
  • Concession stand
  • Archery
  • Restrooms
  • Dog park

    • Ball field maintenance was prioritized in 2013 by the Sarasota County Commission.
