Speeding FL Driver Dies After Hitting Light Pole, Overturning

An Englewood woman died after losing control of her vehicle while speeding and hitting a light pole, Florida troopers said.

ENGLEWOOD, FL — A woman speeding on Pine Street died after losing control of her vehicle on Friday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The crash happened as the 51-year-old Englewood woman approached the intersection of Crestwood Road just before 5 a.m.

She drove off the road and entered the grass shoulder and a parking lot entrance of Calvary Baptist Church at 75 Pine Street.

She hit a light pole and fire hydrant before overturning, FHP said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
