Summer Food Trucks, Summer Sing and More Weekend Events in Sarasota

SUMMER FOOD TRUCK FEST: Celebrate summer at the Englewood Sports Complex with food, beverages, music, children's activities and more.  Bring chairs and listen to the music.  Saturday's event is free to attend and runs from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Food, beverages and activities will be available for purchase.


SUMMER SING-JOHANNES BRAHMS- A GERMAN REQUIEM: Choral enthusiasts team-up "to sing through one of the world's great choral masterworks: Johannes Brahms' "A German Requiem."

The $15 participation fee helps support future programs and includes: a musical score and a post-event reception.

Event is Sunday at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Sarasota, 2050 Oak St.

RELIEF FROM PET BEHAVIOR ISSUES: The Cat Depot Education Center offers a 90-minute presentation Saturday starting at 11 a.m. on the benefit of flower essence use  to help alleviate some pet behavior problems. Find details in the Patch event listing.

THE LITTLE MERMAID JR.:
 The whole family can relive the magic of the Disney tale in this musical performance at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, 1010 North W.C. MacInnes Place, Tampa. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, and 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10. Get tickets online or call 813-229-7827.

SHARK WEEK! The Florida Aquarium, 701 Channelside Dr., Tampa, celebrates these undersea predators through Sunday, Aug. 11, with a shark-themed scavenger hunt, additional shark feeding tours, appearances by the Florida Aquarium Mermaids and more. Visit flaquarium.org for more details.
