Suspect In Custody After Shooting Woman In Venice: Sarasota Sheriff
The suspect, who drove away from the shooting scene before deputies arrived Friday night, crashed his on I-75 N, the Sarasota sheriff said.
VENICE, FL — The suspect in a Friday night shooting that left a woman injured in Venice is in custody after crashing his vehicle on Interstate 75 North, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Micah Redding, 22, was arrested and charged with attempted homicide.
The shooting took place just after 11 p.m. in the area of Fallow Road and E. Baffin Drive, the sheriff’s office said.

The victim was brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital by Bayflight.
Redding drove away from the crime scene before deputies arrived. He crashed his vehicle while heading north on I-75 near mile marker 198, the sheriff’s office said.

The SCSO Aviation Section helped find Redding, who ran from the crash and was ultimately taken into custody.
The sheriff’s office’s Emergency Response Team later found evidence believed to be linked to the shooting.
