Days after Hurricane Milton hit the greater Tampa Bay area, many schools remain closed. Here's an updated list.

TAMPA BAY, FL — Nearly a week after Hurricane Milton ravaged the greater Tampa Bay area, schools in the area remain closed.

Hillsborough County Schools

Schools will remain closed Tuesday during recovery efforts following the hurricane.

About 100 schools were without power Monday morning and more than a dozen have standing water.

The district hopes to open Wednesday.

Manatee County Schools

A decision on whether Manatee County School will reopen Tuesday will be announced at 5 p.m. Monday was already a Record Day and a no-school day for students.

Pasco County Schools

Staff will return to school Tuesday for a planning day and students will return Wednesday.

Pinellas County Schools

Schools will remain closed Tuesday and will reopen Wednesday.

Sports and activities might resume Tuesday with approval by each school’s principal.
Staff will return to work Tuesday.

The first quarter of the school year will now end on Friday. The district proposal for make-up days/minutes will be discussed at the Oct. 22 school board workshop.

Sarasota County Schools

Schools are closed Tuesday and reopen Wednesday.

Friday was already marked as a professional, non-student day and students won’t attend school.
The district will consider readjusting the school year’s calendar.
