Toddler Pulled From Pool, In Critical Condition

Sarasota County Sheriff's Office investigating why an 18-month old was out of sight of his parents and ended up in the pool.

A Sarasota toddler is in critical condition at All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg after being found unconscious in his family's pool Saturday evening.

Sarasota County Sheriff's deputies reponded at 4:30 p.m. to 4218 Berkshire Drive, for a potentional drowning. When deputies arrived, Nathan Bates, 18 months old, was found in the family's pool by a relative, according to the sheriff's office.

Nathan's mother, Erin Hill told deputies that the child was "momentarily out of sight before he was found in the pool," according to the sheriff's office report.

Sarasota County Fire Paramedics responded and transported the child to All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg where he is being treated.
